Coffee is not breakfast!

I’ve got a hard truth to share with you. Coffee is not breakfast.


I’m sorry. It’s true. And yes, I hate it too!


I used to have coffee for breakfast for years. It’s just easier, isn’t it? Especially when you’re busy.


But here’s the thing: coffee on an empty stomach actually increases cortisol and cravings throughout the rest of the day.


Excess cortisol (a hormone released when the body is under stress – think too little food and too much caffeine) can lead to increased fat storage and affect the way our hormones work to help us reach our goals.


This means more fat around the midsection, upper arms, and thighs, sluggish (or non-existent) weight loss, and low energy.


If you want to avoid this, you’ve got to go beyond coffee and eat yourself a real breakfast.


What’s that? At least 25g of protein paired with a carb source.


This will make your weight loss efforts more effective.


Some of my fave breakfasts?

  • 3 eggs (can do a whole egg/white combo) with oats
  • Avocado toast with a side of turkey sausage, a whole egg/egg whites
  • Breakfast sandwich on an English Muffin
  • Protein shake with fresh berries


Everyone has different protein goals, which means different breakfasts. Knowing exactly what you need each morning will help you achieve your goals faster and maintain your results longer.
